Renting at 1080 feet

Before I start, sorry about the delay. I've just been super busy during the holidays. Either I'm working with my dad at the house we're doing up, out on my bike, doing homework or just chilling. In part, I have forgotten but yeah, it's been hectic. Today, I'm going to be talking about where we're renting and the two reasons why I absolutely hate it. Climat e There's a difference of only 530 feet from where we are going to live once the house is finished and one of the three rental places we've been in at an altitude of 1080 feet. Yet there's always a 2 or 3 degree difference between the two. It doesn't sound like much, but it seems like a huge amount. The mornings are always freezing and I haven't even experienced a proper winter here yet. Not that I really want to find out.  That's not all though; there's the mist. Without exception, it's always here. Now that I think of it, it's hard to explain why I don't lik

The School Structure

You know, I wanted to go out riding today. Why I'm here? The internal cabling in my bike snapped yesterday which is really annoying. Really, really annoying. Second time as well. Looks like another trip to St. Hillaire for me. Anyway, tomorrow it's the holidays! I must admit, it's been so quick, like insanely fast. So, today in this blog post I decided to talk a little about the school structure, how the days work and whether I think it's better or not. Monday BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP!  First- Why is my alarming going off? It's Sunday right?   Next- Realisation Finally- Depression. It's Monday.  Monday is alright actually, except for an hour and a half of SVT (biology) in the afternoon. The day itself finishes at 4:50 which sound a bit long but we have two hours of lunch and two other breaks. We also have two hours of sport as well so that's not bad. No French as well. 😄 It's probably  my second to last least favourite day in the school week. You

The Pyramid of Stress

I'm going to be straight. This isn't paradise. It's a great place, I'll give you that but it's not paradise. I still have a lot of stress and it comes in various different shapes and forms. So, in this blog post, I've decided to put these into what I've called "The Pyramid of Stress" to help you understand the differences between England and France when it comes down to STRESS. However, just before I start I have made a change to the blog theme because I didn't really like the other one (which you probably would've noticed). I have not been replaced by an alien. Homework- The Base Homework. I don't mind it but there's just so many of them. You get them as fast as you finish them; a bit like storm troopers in Star Wars. There's definitely way more of it than in the UK. There, I would get about 4 or 5 a week. Here, it's around 3 or 4 a day. It's not the worst thing I have to deal with, but it doesn't help. Tests

My French Journey

Someone said to me once "If you moved over and everyone spoke English, you wouldn't have any worries", which is definitely accurate. I think a lot of people take it for granted- being able to understand anything anyone is saying to you. The hardest, by far, about moving to France (or any foreign country) is learning the language. It takes several months and hard work; I learnt very early on that being fluent wouldn't just come on its own. So, in this blog post, I'm going to be talking a little about my French journey and learning languages in general. I started to learn French when I started secondary school. The lessons were twice a week, fifty minutes long. I'm...not really sure what I learnt... Oh yeah, now I remember! The paper wars of 15... The sky was filled with planes, going down left and right. Casualties- numerous. People were using their books to protect themselves from the bombardment. There were as many victories as French words I learnt. Tra

Exactly average... 😑 Hi my name is Nathan and I'm 13 years old. I decided to start this blog today to tell my story and also to help other people like me in similar situations. I have been living in Normandy, France for six months now and it's really good. When I came over from London, I didn't know what to expect but now I wonder why I even had any worries to begin with. I go to a good school, my French is coming along and my grades are alright (exactly average...for now). Cycling round here is great as well; the roads are in pretty good condition and I've got the freedom to go wherever I want. It's the end of season at the moment but usually I would go to races every Saturday. OK, I  miss a few things but you know what I don't miss? Potholes Traffic Guys getting stabbed (want proof?)  Try this . Still not convinced?  If I wasn't asleep, I could've been able to see this out of the window .
